What makes LANAP® different from traditional gum surgery?
Traditional surgery cuts and removes gum tissue with a scalpel and stitches it back down. LANAP® uses a specialised PerioLase® laser to remove bacteria and diseased tissue without cutting healthy gums, and is clinically shown to support regeneration of bone and ligament around teeth.
Are LANAP® and PST™ the same thing?
No. LANAP® is a laser treatment for deep periodontal infection and bone loss. PST™ is a micro-invasive procedure that slides receding gum tissue back over exposed roots without scalpels or stitches.
Is LANAP® painful?
LANAP® is significantly more comfortable than cut-and-stitch surgery. It is performed under local anaesthetic, post-treatment soreness is minimal, and most patients return to their normal routine the next day.
